Dr. Bénédicte Blain, Ph.D, C.Psych.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Bénédicte Blain holds a Ph.D. in neuropsychology (clinical and research) from Université du Québec à Montréal and a training certificate in neuropsychology.  Dr. Blain is a registered member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

A Bit About Dr. Blain

Dr. Blain has worked in neuropsychology since 2011, with a clientele of children and adults with various neurodevelopmental disorders, notably attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, language disorders, developmental coordination disorder, etc.. She began her practice in a clinic in Montreal specializing in neuropsychology (CÉNOP). In 2013, she continued her private practice in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Dr. Blain offers psychotherapy online to: 1) cope with anxiety, 2) improve mood, and 3) coach parents to manage their own emotions, as well as the behaviours of their child.​ Dr. Blain’s approach to therapy is collaborative, using a variety of evidence-based treatments tailored to the client’s objectives, such as:

  1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and;

  2. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

Her doctoral dissertation focused on communication skills (pragmatics) and regulation of new and complex behaviours (executive functions) of children aged 4 years old, and the relationship between the two.  Her research led to publications, including a book chapter on child language development in childcare settings and a scientific article on the role of executive functions in the development of communication.

Maude

Dr. Maude Lambert, Ph.D, C.Psych.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Lambert holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology (clinical and research) from the University of Ottawa and completed extensive training in neuropsychology.  Dr. Lambert is a registered member of the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) as well as l’Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ).

A Bit About Dr. Lambert

Dr. Lambert is a pediatric neuropsychologist who offers neuropsychological/psychoeducational assessments to children and adolescents with various neuro-developmental disorders (e.g., attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities). While Dr. Lambert has completed her neuropsychology residency in a pediatric hospital in the Greater Toronto Area, she primarily works in hospital settings in the Ottawa region. Dr. Lambert offers assessments in French and English to children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 years old.

Daria

Dr. Daria Kolmogorova, Ph.D, C.Psych.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Daria Kolmogorova holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Ottawa. Dr. Kolmogorova's competency areas include clinical and rehabilitation psychology & clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Kolmogorova is a registered member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

A Bit About Dr. Kolmogorova

Dr. Kolmogorova has a special interest in helping individuals understand and manage the effects of various conditions, such as traumatic brain injury, adjustment to illness/disability, chronic pain, depression, and anxiety. Dr. Kolmogorova's therapeutic approach aims to foster meaningful change using a collaborative approach informed by evidence-based practices (e.g., cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness). Please note that Dr. Kolmogorova only offers services in English. 

 

Dr. Kolmogorova holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa. Dr. Kolmogorova's training includes a pre-doctoral residency at the Toronto Area Residency Consortium's Adult Track: Neuropsychology/Health Psychology and pre-doctoral training rotations at several private practices in Ottawa and at The Ottawa Hospital - Rehabilitation Centre. Dr. Kolmogorova also has experience working with WSIB, Veterans Affairs Canada, and automobile accident claimants.

Ms. Chelsee Pierre-Jerome, M.A, B.A.

PRACTICUM STUDENT

Ms. Pierre-Jerome is an M.A. student in applied psychology at Laurentian University. She currently holds an honours undergraduate degree in Psychology from Carleton University. Dr. Kolmogorova will supervise Chelsee. She is interested in pursuing doctoral studies in clinical psychology. 

A Bit About Ms. Pierre-Jerome

In her master’s program, Chelsee’s academic training has focused on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and counselling techniques. She has notable strengths in building an effective therapeutic alliance and teaching psychoeducation. Chelsee has worked in community settings that have fostered her deep understanding of diverse lived experiences. She uses a compassionate and empathetic approach with clients.

Her research is about destigmatizing academic accommodations for students with invisible disabilities in post-secondary education. She brings her insight on the implications of mental health stigma that have refined her emotional attunement and sensitivity with clients.

Isabelle

Isabelle Cossette, Ph.D, C.Psych.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST

Isabelle Cossette holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa, where she completed extensive training in clinical neuropsychology. Isabelle is currently in supervised practice while working toward registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) and l’Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ).

A Bit About Ms. Cossette

Isabelle has developed competencies in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, and School Psychology, with a focus on supporting children, youth, and families. Isabelle is a clinician specializing in neuropsychology, providing neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments to children, adolescents, and young adults facing a range of neurodevelopmental and mental health challenges.  She offers assessments in both French and English.

Her doctoral research at the University of Ottawa explored how children's confidence impacts their engagement in social learning, offering valuable insights into cognitive and emotional development. Her clinical training includes a pre-doctoral residency at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and additional experience in hospital, community clinic, and private practice settings. This broad training equips her to provide personalized, evidence-based assessments to meet the diverse needs of her clients.

Ilana

Dr. Ilana Lockwood, Ph.D, C.Psych.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Ilana Lockwood holds a Ph.D. in school and clinical psychology from the University of Toronto (OISE). Dr. Lockwood is also an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Occupational Sciences & Therapy, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lockwood is a registered member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

A Bit About Dr. Lockwood

Dr. Lockwood provides family psychotherapy (in-person or telehealth) in English and individual psychotherapy for children and adolescents up to age 19, presenting with a broad range of mental health concerns, including challenges related to ADHD, anxiety, autism, behaviour regulation, grief, depression, identity development, OCD, self-harm, suicidality, and trauma. Dr. Lockwood has experience working in school boards, community mental health, inpatient, and private practice settings. She draws from psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and structural family therapy theory and techniques. Depending on client needs, she also incorporates cognitive behavioural and dialectical behavioural therapy.

 

Dr. Lockwood has a particular interest in play-based approaches for children who would find traditional talk therapy challenging. She also specializes in parent consultation and family approaches to treatment, involving parents and other family members in their loved one’s care whenever possible. Dr. Lockwood grounds her practice in the therapeutic relationship, taking time to build trust and understanding with each child/adolescent in order to then properly individualize treatment (e.g., incorporating visuals and metaphors, noticing thought patterns, practicing distress tolerance, building awareness of internal and relational processes). She takes into account family functioning, life circumstances, and diversity.

Alina

Dr. Alina Carter, Ph.D, C.Psych.

CLINICAL AND HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Alina Carter holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a child clinical subspecialty from the University of Windsor. Dr. Carter provides psychological services to children, teens, adults and families in English. Dr. Carter is a registered member of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

A Bit About Dr. Carter

Dr. Carter provides therapy to individuals across most of the lifespan, although she specializes in working with children and youth.  Her practice focuses on those who struggle with anxiety, depression, adjusting to life events or stressors, sleep difficulties, and health-related concerns (e.g., chronic pain). â€‹ Dr. Carter also provides psychodiagnostics and psychoeducational assessments for children and young adults. 

 

Dr. Carter’s theoretical orientation is integrative, in that she considers the impact of various factors (such as biological, psychological, social, and systemic) when understanding her clients and their struggles. Dr. Carter focuses on interventions that are evidence-based (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy) and relevant for the individual and developmental level. Her approach is supportive, collaborative, and respectful, and she seeks feedback and active involvement from clients.

Before moving to Ottawa in 2016, Dr. Carter worked as a registered psychologist in Victoria, BC, for almost 6 years.  Dr. Carter’s clinical experience has included working in various settings, such as community child and youth mental health, hospital, university, and private practice settings. She has also been involved in program development, research, and the training of clinical psychology graduate students in psychological assessment and treatment.

Laila Kokenberg-Gallant, B.Sc.

Ms. Kokenberg-Gallant completed a Bachelor of Sciences (B.Sc.) in Psychology and has been working as a psychometrist for Brighter Future Psychology since September 2022.

Hana

Hana Ziani-Bey, M.A., B.Sc.

PSYCHOMETRIST

Ms. Ziani-Bey completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology at the University of Ottawa and completed an M.A. in Psychology from Carleton University. She began working as a psychometrist at Brighter Future Psychology in May 2024.

Mr. Coulombe is entering his fourth year in the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology at the University of Ottawa. He began working as a Practice Manager at Brighter Future Psychology in August 2024. He can answer your questions in French and English.
